Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu
(President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria)
Tinubu's early education took place in Lagos and Ibadan. He later moved to the United States in 1975, where he studied accounting at Richard J. Daley College and Chicago State University, graduating summa cum laude in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. While in the US he worked various jobs to support himself and was active in student leadership.
After returning to Nigeria, Tinubu worked for Mobil Nigeria as an accountant before transitioning into politics. He was elected Senator for Lagos West in 1993 but went into exile following the annulment of the 1993 presidential election. During his exile he was a key figure in the pro-democracy movement, advocating for the return of civilian rule.
In 1999, Tinubu was elected Governor of Lagos State, a position he held until 2007. During his tenure he focused on infrastructure development and governance reforms. After leaving office he played a significant role in the formation of the APC in 2013. In the 2023 presidential election he emerged the winner.
